ICS Threat Map V1.0 - Swiss Critical Infrastructure Security Report

On April 11, 2014, the Swiss academic portal OST.ch published a report on risks related to critical infrastructure security, titled “ICS Threat Map V1.0”. The document reports that Francesco Ongaro, as an information security expert at IS Group, coordinated a systematic test that identified 2,742 vulnerable industrial plants in Switzerland, including stadiums, thermal power plants, and water facilities. Ongaro stated that the direct connection of such devices to the Internet allows attackers to bypass more complex defenses and gain immediate access to systems. The report had strong media resonance due to the serious implications for national security.
